Frequently Asked Questions and Answers
- How long does the process take?
Typical time frames are up to 60-90 days for Medicare, 160 days for Medi-Cal and 90-120 days for commercial carriers. Effective dates for the contracts will also vary.
The timeframes are estimates based on the information provided to us by the carriers. It is possible that your contracting will take a shorter time with some carriers and a longer time with others.
It is important that you factor in the time that credentialing and contracting will take. The timeframe is not concrete, but can provide an idea of the length of time that you will wait for your initial claims to begin processing and be reimbursed. - How much does it cost to be credentialed and contracted with the health plans?
Based on your needs at the initiation of a contracting and credentialing engagement with HCS, a written estimate of costs will be provided based on the number of plans to be contracted and credentialed. The total amount due will be invoiced in two equal monthly installments with the first installment due at the signing of the Service Agreement and second once all of the credentialing application have been submitted to the carrier for processing. - Does HCS offer re-credentialing services?
